Thank you Truth in Labeling campaign
for being my most reliable source the past few years for tracking down
my migraine triggers. For over 30 years I have searched to
discover my triggers. With your help I have been able to
significantly reduce the number of migraines I have.
I have a very important question I
need to ask you. And, if this is what I think it is, you will
want to post this information on your website as well.
I have recently been carefully
evaluating a line of supplements and taking into consideration ALL
their ingredients to ensure they would be safe for me to take.
This is the Shaklee product line we are talking about ("all natural" of
course!!). When I looked into some of the vitamin supplements,
they listed ingredients that sound suspiciously like "hydrolyzed
proteins". Is there any possibility you could confirm my
suspicions? If this IS what I THINK it is, everyone searching
your website NEEDS to know this information.
They are listing ingredients called
"Selenium Rice Protein Hydrolysate"
and "Chromium Rice Protein Hydrolysate".
When I look up words in my medical dictionary, I find these definitions:
Hydrolyze --
"To cause to undergo hydrolysis"
Hydrolysate -- "That
produced as a result of hydrolysis"
Therefore, my interpretation is that
"hydrolysate" equals "hydrolyzed".
Have you ever heard of this
before?
Can you please respond as soon as
possible so I can make this very important decision concerning my
health. Some of these supplements contain other "NO-NO"
ingredients (e.g. natural flavour, soy protein isolate and carrageenan)
while others appear to be "safe" with the exception of these
"hydrolysate" ingredients.
Thank you very much for your
assistance. I really appreciate any help you can provide, even if
you simply don't know the answer.
Sincerely,
<>C L

C L:
All of the hydrolysates that you listed will include some processed
free glutamic acid (MSG) as well as the free form of other amino acids,
including neurotoxic aspartic acid (over 40% of aspartame), and
neurotoxic L-cysteine.
In addition, be advised that most multivitamins include minerals that
have been chelated with free amino acids. Avoid products that
include the words "glutamate," "aspartate," "citric acid" or make
reference to protein hydrolysates. If you have little tolerance
for MSG, also avoid any gelatin, including gelatin capsules, starches,
and maltodextrin.
I am very pleased to learn that our Web site has helped you.
